FOUR local schools could be in line for funding via a bid soon to be made by Oxfordshire County Council.
OCC is bidding for government money to improve primary school buildings across Oxfordshire.

Mill Lane Community Primary School and St Andrew's Church of England Primary School, both in Chinnor, Great Milton Church of England Primary School in Great Milton and Barley Hill Primary School in Thame are the four schools earmarked for the funding which should take place between 2008/9 and 2013/14 in order to raise standards, carry out improvements to the infrastructure and expand provision.

The extra funding is intended to raise standards across the county as well as transform school buildings, and also plan for expected population increases in Oxfordshire over the coming years.

Cllr Michael Waine, Oxfordshire County Council's cabinet member for schools' improvement, said: "These improvements to school buildings will support our over-arching strategy to raise standards in schools.

"We are anticipating receiving a large amount of funding from the government to create the primary schools of the future, which will give children a modern, exciting environment in which they can learn."
