PARISH COUNCIL. Members present at the meeting, held at the pavilion, were councillors Butler, Camden, Copping, Gilbert, Hooper and Le Brun. Apologies were received from Cllr McNaughton.
Clerk's Report and Action Log. The county council is monitoring the parking near the Angel pub.

The cost of dogbins needs to go into the budget as the district council purchase them in bulk once a year and they can only be purchased in January. Cl
lr Camden agreed to do a survey on the position of the bins.

The clerk is to write to Aylesbury Vale District Council to request that signs in Fells Close, Elm Trees and Meadowbank Close be replaced.
Traffic. The problem of speeding and mounting pavements was discussed at the annual parish meeting and the clerk was requested to write to Highways about raising the kerbstones in some areas.

There are problems with the maintenance of the roads and paths in the village and many need to be looked at. The traffic-calming hump outside Hilltop on the Thame Road is also crumbling.

Recreation Ground. The problem of the footballs going in the road from the Recreation Ground was also discussed, as recently a ball broke a glass door on the Chearsley Road. The chairman, Cllr Copping, said they must pass on their concerns to all the clubs concerned and check if they have insurance cover.

Miscellaneous. The clerk understands that the present position of the Scout Hut is that it is waiting to be demolished.

Cllr Butler has obtained all the replacement grills for the Pavilion and fixing has now to be organised.

The clerk said that the light in Peascroft has finally been repaired and Thames Water has agreed to pay the bill, as it was broken by their workmen last year whilst working in the area. The light in Elm Trees has also been repaired.

Long Crendon Horticultural Society has requested permission to plant an ornamental tree to celebrate their centenary year.

Damage to the bank opposite the Farthings by a lorry was discussed and it was agreed that the clerk write a letter to the company requesting compensation, as the owners of the cottage spent a lot of time planting daffodils and keeping the area neat and tidy.

It was agreed that the parish council would pay £1687.13 towards the cost of the new footpath next to the Tennis Courts.
The issue of lack of water on Harroell was discussed at length and fresh quotes for supply are to be obtained.

Complaints have been received about the new recycling bins at the Village Centre and the noise they create. Councillors were also concerned that they could be vandalised. After much discussion it was decided to ask for their removal.

Long Crendon Bellringers. Following the replacement of the eighth bell in January, work has been ongoing to adjust the acoustics within the ringing chamber. The introduction of the new bell, with much improved tonal quality and richness of sound, has meant that some adjustment has been necessary to ensure that all the bells are equally audible in the ringing chamber.

Despite our efforts to attract new ringers, and our luck in having two ready-made ringers move to the village, we are starting to struggle to maintain a band to keep the bells ringing and to ring to a reasonable standard. Without help from neighbouring towers, we would most certainly not be able to ring on some occasions.

The need to recruit some new ringers is becoming a necessity, and I would appeal to anybody who would like to take up that challenge and learn to ring, to visit the tower on a Thursday practice night or during Sunday service to see what is involved and think about having a go. Otherwise call Andrew Haseldine on (01844) 208948 to arrange a convenient time to have a look around at what happens and possibly have a go.

Parish Council MEETING. Members present were councillors Butler, Copping, Gilbert, Le Brun and Hooper. Apologies were received from Cllr Camden.

Clerk's report and Action Log . A window has been vandalised in the Pavilion.

The light outside Greensleeves in Harroell has now been repaired and the clerk is trying to get compensation from Aylesbury Vale District Council, as it was one of its trucks that caused the damage.

The clerk has inquired about the cost to place sides on the bus shelter in the Thame Road - £400, plus £800 to fix them on. Councillors decided to leave it for now.

The county council is carrying out a survey of street lighting for risk assessment and health and safety.

The recycle bins at the Village Centre have been removed.
Interest has been show on the Internet regarding the advert about the kickwall.

Cllr Hooper is to meet with a technician from Bucks Highway to show and discuss the problems with the footpaths in the village.

Forthcoming Events. Party in the Park, Saturday July 21, Long Crendon Baptist Church invites you to join members at the Recreation Ground, Chearsley Road, from noon to 3pm.
