Thank you for an excellent item on the Thame cycle track campaign in the Thame Gazette.
I thought you might be interested to know that the statement by Buckinghamshire County Council that there have been no accidents on the Haddenham Thame road in the last three years is at best mistaken and at worst deliberately misleading.

The first and only time I tried to ride from Haddenham to Thame at a normal working time, I was knocked from my bike on the roundabout where the A418 crosses the ring road. I have lived in Haddenham for eight years and worked in Thame for three years. It seems ridiculous to drive such a short distance but, having tried it many times, it can only be done safely during early mornings, late evenings and weekends.

There is already a direct footpath route from close to Haddenham station to Thame which seems very suitable for upgrading to a cycle route. It is already passable by bike (when dry) from Haddenham to the mill but then becomes unsuitable because of stiles and gates. It would be quick and cheap to gravel the entire route and change the gate and stile arrangements.

Thanks again
Andrew Barber
